You’ve been looking at the exhibits and no doubt thinking you could do better than that unless, of course, your exhibits came first! You’ve probably had a cup of tea and a slice of home made cake in the Youth Centre and caught up with news from people you haven’t seen since the previous show.
The presentation of trophies is almost over and the raffle is about to start and there is a long queue of people clutching their prize cards waiting for their prize money.
It’s over, we’ll go home and put our feet up. But it isn’t all over. While the raffle is being drawn helpers are bringing exhibits that have been left for sale to the stage. After the raffle “AN AUCTION OF PRODUCE TAKES PLACE”. This auction is where fun and bargains are to be had, sometimes bidders do get carried away but that doesn’t matter too much as the proceeds of the sale are to help off-set the running costs of the show so why not stay a little longer this year and get a bargain whether it be some home made cakes or pickles, a bunch of flowers, perhaps a cabbage or marrow there’s normally something for everyone to bid for.
