It is never too soon……

If you are a keen  (or novice) jam maker and thinking about entering this year’s Show, it is not too early to be thinking about your entries or, for that matter, some delicious concoctions to spread on your toast.

The short Seville orange season is here and for a few weeks you will find them on sale on the market or at the greengrocers. They make excellent marmalade and are well worth getting. I understand they will freeze well for later use, though the pectin level will be less, but I have never tried that.

There are loads of good recipes around for different marmalades: I have used one from a WI book on Preserves and Pickles, but you will find them often in the paper at this time of year and you can find them on the internet too.

Do have a go – enjoy eating the fruits of your labours, but save a jar for entering in the Show!
